West Georgia Autism Foundation is proud to announce the graduation of Jacob Nelson, son of Harry (WGAF Chairman and Treasurer) and Becky Nelson (WGAF Secretary)!
Congratulations, Jacob Nelson!
Jacob Nelson is the son of Harry and Becky Nelson, who are both on the Board of Directors for the West Georgia Autism Foundation. Jacob has Autism, but has rarely let that get in the way of achieving great things. In his senior year alone he has received several wonderful accolades including:
Outstanding Catholic Youth of the Year for his church (Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church)
Carroll County Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year
Metro Atlanta Boys and Girls Club Trailblazer Award (for being the first Autistic Youth of the Year)
January’s Student of the Month at Central High School
All of these things have been achieved by a young man that did not speak in sentences until he was almost 8 years old. Jacob would like everyone to know that he may be 1 in 54 (kids diagnosed with autism), but with determination and hard work everyone can achieve great things.
